Dzividzinska’s photographs of Ansis Rūtentāls, legendary mime and pioneer of movement theater

Several photographs of Ansis Rūtentāls by Zenta Dzividzinska are included in the monograph: Guna Bīriņa, Ansis Rūtentāls. Ceļojums (Riga: Neputns, 2025).

The book documents the life and artistic career of Ansis Rūtentāls (1949–2000), a legendary mime, performance artist, director, mentor, and pioneer of movement theater in Latvia.

Dzividzinska photographed Rūtentāls in the mid-1960s when he had just joined the Riga Pantomime troupe. Rūtentāls featured in one of Dzividzinska’s most widely exhibited prints in the 1960s, titled Two, which is also included in the book.
