The book, published in September 2023, accompanies the exhibition “Sophie Thun - Trails and Tributes” at the Kunstverein Hildesheim, Germany (May 8 - July 17, 2022).

The essay was commissioned by the curator and co-editor Christin Müller for this publication. For this essay, art and photography historian Alise Tifentale revisited the collaboration between the artist Sophie Thun and the archive of the artist and photographer Zenta Dzividzinska.

The collaboration, initiated by the curator Zane Onckule, resulted in Sophie’s exhibition “I Don't Remember a Thing: Entering the Elusive Estate of ZDZ” at the Kim? Contemporary Art Center in Riga, Latvia (July 15 – September 12, 2021) and later continued in Sophie’s other projects, such as her solo show at the Kunstverein Hildesheim in 2022 and the new work for the group exhibition “Taking Notes” at the Sophie Tappeiner Gallery in Vienna in 2023.

Art historian Līga Goldberga worked as an archivist in this project and after the closure of the exhibition, went on to supervise the incorporation of Dzividzinska’s archive into the collection of the National Library of Latvia.

The catalogue presentation took place at the Sophie Tappeiner Gallery in Vienna, on September 13, 2023.

The presentation coincided with an exhibition, “Taking Notes” curated by Theresa Roessler at the Sophie Tappeiner Gallery (September 12 - October 14, 2023).

Thank you to Christin Müller for the photos from the presentation!
